Steppers, Marchers, Stompers, and Hoppers!!!!
On behalf of the Step Show Committee I extend greetings and salutations. It is with extreme pleasure that we announce the Step Show portion of the Annual Big XII Conference on Black Student Government. Throughout the thirty year history of the conference the Step Show has been one of the entertainment highlights of the weekend - and this year will prove to be no different. We all know that step shows have long been one of the primary vehicles by which non-Greeks are exposed to the Divine Nine.
It is true that the high energy, massive enthusiasm, and rhythmic dancing of the teams provide entertainment value. On another level, step shows showcase the organizations' deep linkage with military tradition, African culture, and "the Power of One" as evidenced by all members being synchronized and on one accord. It is our hope that the legacy of Black Greekdom can be transmitted to the conference attendees by means of this event.
To that end, it is our pleasure to extend an invitation to your step team to participate in this year's show. We anticipate registering ten teams from across the area encompassed by the Big XII. No more than two groups from any one of the national organizations will be permitted to register. Each performance will be limited to ten minutes. Judges will be culled from graduate organizational members who are on the faculty and will interpret the routines along the lines of complexity, creativity, uniformity, and crowd reaction. The non-refundable registration fee for this event will be approximately $100 and total prizes awarded will be around $5000.
If you have questions regarding this event, please contact Sylvester Obafunwa, sobafun1@bigred.unl.edu.
We'll see you Saturday, February 17th!!!
